Turenne Chevallereau (1912-1977) is one of the great names in French design. After graduating from the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in 1929, he studied with René Gabriel, who introduced him to the world of design and with whom he exhibited at the Expostion Internationale in 1937. In 1948, he created the emblematic Longchamp logo for Jean Cassegrain. An interior architect during the Trente Glorieuses, he was a member of the Union des Artistes Décorateurs Créateurs d'Ensemble (U.A.D.C.E.) in Paris, along with René Prou, Maurice Pré, Janette Laverrière, Jacques Hitier, André Preston and Paul Beucher. Important members of the Union are also those of SAD. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, demonstrating his important role in French design. In his quest for formal innovation, he also designed an emblematic range of modular furniture in 1968 for the Mobilier National, created at the Atelier Recherche et Création du Mobilier National. His work, which has long remained confidential, is now being rediscovered. Our collection of interior architecture projects is a remarkable testimony to this important name in French design.
