Volume I containing the first ten, by Sr de Damvilliers and the visionaries, a second part on imaginary heresy, containing the last eight. Liège, Adolphe Begess, 1667; 2 volumes in-12, à la Sphère, havana calf, boards decorated in cold with a radiating rhombus and a riddled background, decorative cold-framed roulette and gilt fillet, spines with gilt fillets and cold fleurons, gilt corners. 14 introductory leaves, 430 pages, 1 table leaf; 495 pages (1) blank leaf. First edition printed by Daniel Elzevier (Willems 1377); "this collection consists of eighteen 'little letters' in the taste of the Provinciales and worthy enough to follow at a distance" said Sainte-Beuve (Port-Royal, t. IV, p.322)". The last eight, entitled les Visionnaires, are directed against Desmarets de St Sorlin. Apart from the slightly faded spines, a fine copy in a romantic binding.
