Paul MORELLET (1950) - Lot 244
Paul MORELLET (1950) Self-portrait with a broken ear. Oil on canvas, signed in the painting. Countersigned, titled and dated 2002 on the reverse. 98,5 x 79,5 cm (framed with sticks). It is a cold, realistic and fascinating painted universe that of Paul Morellet. This partly explains it. This trained architect writes his living spaces in a millimeter codification. Everything is drawn to the line, to establish this rigorous work, as much as vigorous. Three subjects are delivered. The first "self-portrait" is resolutely minimalist, which is what gives it its charm. With the "Canadians" in large formats, he installs his world made of bright colors and requirements. Finally, with more audacity, he imposes repetitive signs on the spaces giving birth to positive contrasts and intermingled colors in his poetry. BG
