Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999), Asko Finland edition. - Lot 145
Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999), Asko Finland edition. A suite of two "Tale Stools" consisting of a tripod base in solid birch wood fixed to a wooden frame on which the curved birch plywood seat rests. Circa 1953. The name, "Tale", refers to the Finnish tradition of telling stories and tales by the fireplace. The wide stool has a pleasant seat for this purpose. In addition, Tale is an excellent example of Tapiovaara's talent in exploiting the potential of wood in organic design. H: 41, W: 65, D: 68 cm.
