The set we're presenting on February 19 is exceptional, not for its purely bibliophilic qualities - although ... - but exceptional because it comprises a collection of numerous books and magazines devoted exclusively to the world of organs from France and around the world. And organs in good condition, restored or in the process of being restored, are to be found almost everywhere on every continent.
Patiently assembled over the course of a lifetime by Professor B..., this collection constitutes a first-rate documentary base on this instrument present in our churches as well as our cathedrals. Among the nuggets in this library is L'art du facteur d'orgues by Dom François Bédos de Celles, the Holy Grail of all organ books, here in its Original Edition published between 1776 and 1778, complete with 137 plates in folio format.
The catalog includes almost thirty lots, offering either individual books, or sets of books or magazines, many of them in old editions now sold out by new booksellers. And for those who are bilingual, trilingual or more, books and booklets in German, English and Italian.
