CONFRERIE DE LA TRES SAINTE TRINITÉ ET RÉDEMPTION DES CHRETIENS CAPTIFS. undated (1750). Cupboard (38,5 x 24,5 cms) decorated with 3 large woods. Abstract of indulgences and graces given in perpetuity to the confreres. Beautiful and rare image of brotherhood which was used as proof of payment by a member of the said brotherhood of his "contribution" and intended to be posted at home. The order of the Trinity, founded by Jean de Matha and Félix de Valois had for vocation to buy back the captives or hostages seized by the Barbarians. Attached is an 18th century map of Barbary (Libya and pars Nigritarum Terra) (32 x 27 cms). Good condition.
